Rural Self-Help Development Association (RSDA) hosting an exciting and informative cook-off and roadshow event dedicated to showcasing the immense potential of dual-purpose chicken and local farmers’ produce in enhancing food security, nutrition, and livelihoods in Lesotho. The event will be held on the 13th August 2026 in Leribe at Hlotse High School from 09:00am -14:00pm.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations (FAO), Government of MONACO and the Rural Self-Help Development
Association (RSDA), coming from our shared commitment to sustainable agricultural
development and economic empowerment for smallholder farmers to foster a strong
partnership between local farmers and various categories of hospitality providers, including
street vendors, caterers, restaurants, hotels, and guest houses to enhance the utilization of
locally sourced produce and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
Event Highlights:
This event will be a unique opportunity to experience the quality of local produce and dual-purpose chicken meat made in different recipes. We are thrilled to feature public cooking
demonstrations where cooks – Street vendors, Chefs will prepare a variety of innovative and
traditional recipes using local produce and dual-purpose chicken meat.
Attendees will have the chance to:

  • Taste delicious different dishes prepared with local farmers’ produce and dualpurpose chicken meat.
  • Learn about the unique characteristics and benefits of RSDA dual purpose poultry
    business model.
  • Engage with small-scale producers and culinary experts.
  • Network with key stakeholders in the production (farmers) and poultry value chain.
