Project Title: Narrative Labelling – Turning product into a sought – after Brand

The output of the intervention will be Narrative labeling concept of the slow food Movement on two livestock value chains –slow fed red meat and milk. Outcome of the intervention is to contribute to the transitioning of the food system in Lesotho and the agricultural supply chains in their entirety but also consumers. RSDA applies agro-ecology approach to the slow fed red meat and milk value chain. All actors – herders, farmers, practitioners, scientific experts and advocates contributing to or producing, processing and consuming food that includes environmental, social and economic concerns are active participants.

Project Title: Production and Narrative label for Dry Bean

The project is implemented by Leribe Farmers Forum in partnership with RSDA, and the output of the intervention will be Narrative labeling of dry beans (NUA45) value chain.  Outcome of the intervention is to contribute to the transitioning of the food system in Lesotho and the agricultural supply chains in their entirety but also consumers. The intervention will take into account off production and narrative labeling of beans issues, and the related system gaps in the beans value chain for smallholder farmers in Leribe area will be addressed.

Project Title:Narrative label for sorghum land race (Seqhobane se sesoeu)

The project is implemented by Majantja Temong Farmers Association in partnership with RSDA and the expected results of the intervention will be Narrative labeling of sorghum using the Slow Food concept. Outcome of the intervention is to contribute to the transitioning of the food system in Lesotho and the agricultural supply chains in their entirety but also consumers. The intervention will take into account in the narrative labeling of sorghum, the related system gaps in the sorghum value chain for smallholder farmers in Phamong area will be addressed, since sorghum can be planted in the valleys and perform well even under climate change stress.

The projects started in June 2021 and will end in November 2022.
