Thanks the support of the 2 companies, RSDA has 2 brand new hatchery machines which will help the production of chicks produced in our indigenous chicken farm in the Mafeteng district. Disribution of Food parcels to vulnrable households by RSDA-response to Covid19 pandemic

Rural Self-Help Development Association (RSDA) supported by Denmark Lesotho Network gave away food parcels to vulnerable children in Lesotho.

Lesotho is one of the country that is affected by the Covid19 pandemic, therefore ,RSDA proposes to buy beans from the farmers, vegetable seeds and eggs from RSDA farm and distribute them to 300 vulnerable primary school children in the 5 districts of Lesotho in response to  fight against Covid-19 pandemic. This can also be used to promote the importance of the NUA 45 beans in schools, as they are rich in protein, iron and selenium and their diverse recipes.

RSDA has been supporting Vulnerable schools in all districts of Lesotho. That Been : Butha BUthe, Leribe, Berea, Maseru, Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba Tseka and Mokhotlong.


Farmers Champion Competition 2021

RSDA and farmer leaders through their forums have decided to launch a competition for farmer champions who have the potential of playing an intermediary role for the smallholder farmers to have market access on selected commodities. The farmer leaders have selected the following commodities which have a potential for equitable participation of smallholder farmers : These are :
1. Horticulture
2. Grain Crops
3. Poultry
4. Piggery
5. Dairy

Each district is expected to select 3 best of the district champions selected out of five commodities.

Leribe Famers Training
This training workshop  was attended by 29 farmers from the all resource centre except Pelaneng. Farmers have been able to acquire vast knowledge on the obligation of service providers; the skills, tools and methods of engaging and holding duty bearers accountable and responsive and will be able to create networks amongst themselves to build a collective and impactful voice for change.

Mohale’s Hoek Famers Training | March 2016
The training on governance, social accountability was highly impressed with the 100% attendance and represented 8 major commodities namely; piggery, cereal production, live-stock, forestry, vegetables, chicken, potatoes and dairy and 8 Resource Centres. e training majorly intended to strengthen the district farmers’ platforms/forum ability to engage the government and other stakeholders in agricultural service delivery. e district farmers’ forum is a representation of various farmers groups and associations based on commodities produced in the district. For instance, livestock, piggery, maize, poultry etc. each commodity is represented by 5 committee members on the district farmers’ platform/forum.


Training of Berea Business Forum on Governance and Social Accountability
The training of Berea Business Forum (BBF) on governance and social accountability was intended to equip participants with knowledge and skills that would strengthen the district forum’s platform, ability to engage with the government and other stakeholders in Agro-business service delivery. e participants in the training were represented by various sectors based on commodities produced in the district that included, agriculture, textile and hospitality, who shared and discussed issues affecting their Agro-business sector and the challenges of working closely with the government, private sectors and other stakeholders engaged in ensuring the better Agro-business service delivery.

Training of Maseru District Agricultural Unity on Governance, Social Accountability and Leadership | April 2016
The training of Maseru District Agricultural Unity on governance and social accountability was held at Aloes Guest house, Sehlabeng sauathe from 19th-21st April. It was intended to equip participants with knowledge and skills that would strengthen the district farmers’ platform, ability to engage the government and other stakeholders in agricultural service delivery.
